딜리네스의 예술적 탐구는 특정한 ‘장소’에서 펼쳐진다. 그 장소가 들려주는 고유한 이야기에 귀 기울이며, 예술이 어떻게 영성을 깨우고 감각을 확장시킬 수 있는지를 묻는다. 2024년 여름, 딜리네스의 첫 번째 걸음은 전라남도 신안의 증도를 향한다. 소금을 실어 나르던 폐 목조선, 조수 간만의 리듬에 따라 드러나는 물길과 노두길은 풍경 너머 그 위에 새겨진 수많은 마음과 정령의 흔적을 품고 있었다. 젤 플레이트 위에 얹혀진 매듭과 대기의 흔적들은 장마철의 습기, 염전의 태양, 그리고 소금기를 머금고, 밀과 썰물, 대화와 사유, 작업과 생활 사이의 간극을 고스란히 담아낸다. 무안에서 가져온 황토와 변화무쌍한 날씨, 네 개의 손이 교차하며 만들어낸 롤 판화는 이 시간을 직조한 하나의 직물과 같다. 딜리네스는 이러한 교감을 문학과 인류학을 경유하는 여성적 글쓰기, 질료적인 영상, 확산하는 조각 등의 매체를 통해 표현한다. 둘의 일시적이고 협력적인 관계를 확장된 신체이자 예술적 도구로 삼아, 새로운 장소와 매체로 또 이동하고 조응할 것이다. 앞으로도 딜리네스는 다학제적 접근을 통해 유형과 무형의 경계를 넘나드는 영적인 시각 언어를 창조하고자 한다. 보이는 것과 보이지 않는 것, 만질 수 있는 것과 만질 수 없는 것, 과거와 현재, 그리고 개인과 집단의 기억을 잇는 연금술적 상상력으로 딜리네스의 시각적 서사를 엮어나가려 한다.

Delines’ artistic exploration unfolds in specific ‘‘places”. They listen closely to the unique stories each place whispers, questioning how art can awaken spirituality and expand sensory perception. In the summer of 2024, Delines took their first step in Jeungdo, Sinan, South Jeolla Province. There, they encountered abandoned wooden salt transport ships and tidal paths that revealed themselves with the rhythm of the tides. These paths carried not only landscapes but also traces of countless minds and spirits etched on them. The knots and atmospheric imprints on the gel plate carry the humidity of the monsoon season, the sun of the salt flats, and the presence of salt itself, capturing the ebb and flow of tides, conversations and reflections, and the gaps between work and life. The ocher from Muan, combined with the ever-changing weather and the four hands working together, produced roll prints that weave time like a fabric. Delines expresses this sensory communion through feminine writing, materialistic videos, and expanding sculptures, drawing from both literature and anthropology. Their temporally collaborative relationship itself becomes an extended body and artistic tool, allowing them to continually move and respond to new locations and mediums. Moving forward, Delines aims to create a spiritual visual language that transcends the boundaries between the tangible and intangible through a multidisciplinary approach. Their visual narrative will continue to weave itself with an alchemical imagination, connecting the visible and invisible, the touchable and untouchable, the past and present, and the memories of individuals and communities.

Delines is an artistic research duo that consists of visual artists Yi Yunyi and Cho Jaiyoung. It is an agency of friendship, intertwined like underground stems and spreading like air, engaging in horizontal dialogues and fostering spiritual growth. As dwellers and mediators of an ever-evolving world and the living earth, Delines captures the textures and patterns of life that bloom through the process of birth and transformation, participating in its cycles. Delines focuses on concrete “places” as conduits for exploration, questioning what kind of art awakens the senses within these spaces. Our practice encompasses an interdisciplinary range of media—including feminine writing and anthropological perspectives, materialistic video, and expansive sculptural forms—each serving as a vehicle for our alchemical imagination and the construction of visual narratives.
